PhotoShop Basics

Notes

  • Back up your work ALWAYS and save as often as possible
  • Work in RAW-digital negative (1 GB=1024 MB) (1 MB=1000 KB)
  • Always work in pixels per inch
  • Default print resolution= 300 DPI
  • Default screen resolution=72 DPI
  • Work in bibubic automatic
  • 'Interpolation'- act of computer adding pixels
  • History box-records what you have done to the image (20 stroke limit)
  • 'Duplicate layer' or create a new layer and name it appropriately as often as you can
  • Do as much as you can in RAW before using Photoshop eg, colour balancing, temperature, contrast, highlights, clarity, lens correction ect. 
  • Make sure you open as 'Smart object' so you can go back to Camera RAW if necessary 
  • When sizing: Make sure 'Constrain proportions' is ticked
  • A3: 42width  |  29.7 height
  • SHARPEN SIZE AND SAVE LAST 
  • The less you resize the image, the better.
